words that mean business

Syntax advertising and design

Welcome to the Syntax Website.

Syntax is all about the arrangement of words, and it can make a huge difference to how your audience sees your message.

I’ve been arranging words for most of my working life in publishing and advertising, writing for a wide variety of companies and public sector bodies. During that time, I’ve been involved with every type of medium – newspapers, books, newsletters, press advertising, press releases, brochures, direct mail, posters, flyers, TV, radio and the Internet.

Slogans and strap lines, articles and scripts, words for websites – they all need the right language, the right tone of voice. And, of course, they need to be correct. The art of editing and proof reading makes your words precise, your message clearer, and sets you above the competition. It shows you care about getting things right. If a company can’t be bothered to spell and write correctly, what’s the rest of its service going to be like?

Who do you want to talk to (to whom do you want to talk!)? What do you want to say? What do you want your reader to do afterwards? Answers to these questions form the basis of what I do. If you’d like me to do it for you, just click the contact button at the top of the page.
